Partnership Spotlight Interview – Taya Mower – Listing Specialist, Realtor

June 27, 2016

Our local West Hills Homes NW team works hard to bring thoughtfully designed homes to Portland’s suburban communities. Taya Mower, our Listing Specialist and licensed broker/owner of Mower Group Realty at Keller Williams, is passionate about matching each family with their perfect home to build their lives in. Learn more about Taya below, as she shares valuable advice to new homeowners and her favorite Portland pastimes.

  1. What do you enjoy most about working with West Hills Homes NW?
I appreciate the care that West Hills Homes NW puts into building each home – Whether it’s taking on additional expense to ensure their homes are environmentally friendly or conducting quality control walks during the framing stage to improve upon the livability and function of each home, West Hills Homes NW is constantly striving to improve their already stellar designs and craftsmanship.  I know that when I sell a home built by West Hills Homes NW, they will deliver a top-notch, beautifully crafted home and neighborhood that their customers will be proud of.
  2. What makes West Hills Homes different as it relates to home buyers?
For the same reasons I mentioned in Question #1, I am honored to represent West Hills Homes NW knowing that instead of cutting corners, they are exceeding expectations. When they build a home, WHHNW considers the needs of today’s homeowners and pairs it beautifully with the craftsmanship required for these homes to stand the test of time.
  3. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My free time is best filled with loved ones. Whether it is reading books with my kids or hosting a barbecue in the backyard with family and friends, I enjoy spending time with those I treasure.
  4. What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family?
Connecting with my family during our evening walks is my absolute favorite time. Taking in nature, breathing in the fresh air, and spending uninterrupted family time is the best medicine after a long day – And with two curious young children, these walks often lead to very valuable and deep conversations about life. In fact, I want to go take a walk right now!
  5. Are you a Portland native? If so, where in PDX did you grow up? If not, what brought you to the city?
I am as Oregonian as they come – No umbrella for me! I was born and raised on the Westside of Portland and graduated from the University of Oregon. Aside from studying abroad in Ecuador for nearly a year, I have resided in this great state for my entire life. I love all that this wonderful city has to offer which is why we have chosen to raise our children here as well.
  6. What advice do you have for those looking for a new home?
Know the market and know your numbers – This is a competitive market and you’ll likely only get one chance to secure the home of your dreams. Since you may find yourself in a multiple offer situation, you must know *upfront* what you can and want to afford…And be prepared to put your best foot forward.
  7. What’s your favorite part of your home?
We recently moved into our new home so right now, I love just about everything – I appreciate the thoughtfulness that was put into our kitchen configuration, especially the walk-in pantry and floor-to-ceiling spice cabinet. It has also been wonderful having a fenced-in backyard for my children to safely play in.
